Darrell Hynes grew up in the center of St. John’s and has called the district of Mount Scio home for more than a decade, where he and his wife are raising their two teenage daughters.

A graduate of Memorial University with a degree in Political Science, Darrell was an active student advocate and held executive roles on the university’s student union. He has remained deeply involved in the community serving as chair of local school councils and volunteering in many service and sports organizations. Darrell understands the challenges families face, from the rising cost of living and concerns about crime, to long waits for health care and overcrowded, under-resourced schools. With a career dedicated to public service, he has worked across both provincial and federal governments, including senior roles in Health, Finance and Education. He knows how to navigate the system and get things done.

Darrell has the experience and dedication to be a strong, effective voice for Mount Scio - someone who listens, takes action, and delivers real results. This election is about making life better for families, seniors, and everyone who calls Mount Scio home.  A vote for Darrell Hynes is a vote for the change our community needs.
