Jane Ryan

We are excited to announce Jane Ryan is our candidate for Saint John West-Lancaster in the 2024 provincial election.

Jane Ryan is a proud westsider having lived within the riding for the past three decades. She is from a working class family with deep roots within the New Brunswick Labour Movement. Recently retired She spent most of her career as a proud member of Unifor Local 601N. She has always been a supporter of her union comrades having been a supporter of local CUPE Strike Actions in the Saint John Region. Jane is a strong advocate for women's equality and had the opportunity to complete the Unifor Women's Activist Course. In addition she is an ally of the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community.

Within Saint John she is known for her community service, giving back and helping others is something deeply important to her. A community volunteer, she has volunteered for various organizations such as UCT Jack Kidd Council 755, The Royal Canadian Legion, The Salvation Army, and The Saint John Street Team. She has helped out with various campaigns locally such as the Legion’s Poppy Campaign and Salvation Army Kettle Campaign. Jane also volunteered for the 2024 Saint John Pride Week alongside members of her family.

She is a strong advocate for improved access to mental health care services and increased support for addiction treatment. Being a resident of Saint John she has seen how badly affected the city is by the affordable housing crisis and believes a rent cap is needed to help make housing units more accessible to our citizens. The healthcare and housing crisis are both intertwined and urgent action is needed on both files if the next MLA for Saint John West-Lancaster these would be among her top priorities.
