Biography
Robert was born on Treaty 1 territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and hasn’t missed a step in continuing his political work since relocating to BC. He strives to build relationships in the community with the goal of forging a broad democratic left wing coalition that can focus on freeing people’s basic rights to housing, healthcare and education from its subordination to profit.
Reason for running
The biggest concerns for people I’ve spoken with are the cost of living and our deteriorating healthcare system. People are also concerned about Trump’s tariffs and the threat to their jobs. If we invest in public infrastructure, social housing, education, healthcare and value-added production, we can create good unionized jobs that also provide people living in Canada with the living standards that are appropriate to such a wealthy country. The status quo of corporate handouts and tax cuts needs to come to an end if we are to have a democratic and prosperous future.
Only the Communist Party calls for reduced military spending, solidarity with Palestine, and world peace. The fear-mongering by other parties about invading armies and foreign spies under our beds is manufacturing consent for pouring more money into the war machine, which will only further destabilize the situation globally and at home. The rise of fascism and US foreign influence are real threats. The way to protect against them is jobs, housing, healthcare, education - the things that our tax dollars could fund if they aren’t being given to private arms dealers.
